Meditation Aides

As an outgrowth of the Salad Sets and Rondells we have a subset of Meditation Glass. Sitting still, breathing, relaxing my mind is the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. I am terrible at it, pretty much every day. So I began these pieces because I needed something to hold in my hands, and since my mind usually goes where my hands lead, there is a receptacle for those busy conscious thoughts to circulate within while I attempt to meditate. I envision my unself flowing through the clear glass toward center.

I make disks, and bowls as meditation focus aids. I envision the decorative elements, cane and murrinni, as abstract flowers, moving in a breeze, or perhaps sea life schooling about, or perhaps stem cells from a pond sampling. The list seems to be as long as the number of people who see them, so feel free to see what you see. This design mantra does not lend itself to replication so I don't try to repeat the designs exactly. Each piece will vary so please check in the Available listing to see current work

Bowls are shallow hat shaped vessels. Usually I work at making them flat on the bottom as they are blown to avoid the marks left by grinding them flat. This makes a bowl that functions very nicely as a serving piece (cold foods only) should you desire. Occasionally I get a bit , hmmmm, shall we say, involved and I miss this flattening step, or do it somewhat ineffectively. These bowls will have a slightly rounded shape and will rock when set on a flat surface. If you intend the bowl to function only as a meditation aid these bowls are the nicest to hold in the hand as a cradle for your conscious mind, All pieces are stamped with my sigil when hot and will have a flame polished bottom.

The disks can be hung, or held. A small hole is drilled approximately ½' from the edge, and we put a soft copper wire on for your hanging convenience. Currently we are decorating the eds of the wire with coordinating beads, just for a nice finish. This is optional, and can be left off if you specify.Wire can be made almost any length, and is easily removed if you prefer a plate holder for display once you see and touch it yourself. Disks can are available without a drilled hole if you prefer, no extra charge. The only thing we cannot do is undrill a hole. We will be happy to make another rondelle with the same murrinni, but it will vary subtly.
